Civil rights act of 1964
This act was introduced by John F. Kennedy in 1963 and signed by Lyndon B. Johnson on July 2, 1964. Its purpose was to enforce the constitutional right to vote for all citizens, and to help prevent racial discrimination in public accommodations. It helped to stop racial, religious, sex, and national discrimination in employment.
