This Civil Rights act was also commonly known as the Indian Civil Rights Act of 1968. It was put into effect in April 11, 1968. It was a major piece of legislation, and it provided equal housing opportunities for all races and national origins. The events leading up to this act were: The Martin Luther King Jr. assassination riots, the Civil Rights Act of 1957, and both the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act signed by Lyndon B. Johnson.
