Executive Order 9981
Executive Order 9981 was passed on July 26, 1948 by President Harry S. Truman. This order abolished racial discrimination in the military. Eventually, this would lead to the overall end of segregation in the military. This order added on to the previous Executive Order 8802 which called for equal treatment of all races in the service.
